Google has been aggressive in its stance against paid links. In fact, a screen shot of search results for queries on “PR8″ between mid November and yesterday showed a considerable absence of links promoting the paid links marketplace. Also, Matt Cutts just mentioned this in a recent blog entry together with the Google Webmaster Central blog.

I think Google cannot fully police websites so that all who paid for these links will be penalized. But I agree that paid links shouldn't be a widespread practice. Organic search must remain organic, such that links that point to web pages must come naturally as citations for relevant content and not because of monetary exchange.

links. actually what is your view about paid links?
I think many webmasters are scared of the recent claimed on Google discount paid links as legitimate vote.
