Funny Ask.com Search Suggestions

Ask.com, is an Internet search engine. It is also the company name of the division of IAC Search & Media, founded in 1996 by Garrett Gruener and David Warthen in Berkeley, California.

While the Ask’s user reach isn’t as wide as the major search engines, it maintains a decent number of loyalists and followers because of its good quality results. Its blog features search engine updates, and other industry news that affect the business.

Funny Ask.com Search Suggestions

A feature similar to Yahoo! and Google is also in place at Ask.com so that if we enter a few keywords, the system will fill in suggested words to complete the search phrase. One can think about the variety of suggestions: are these the commonly asked questions? Are these suggested by Ask.com staff?

I-Consulting Group’s Spam E-mail

In Hong Kong there is a movement aims to fight e-mail spam. But I guess some organizations are really desperate to gain fans that even spam laws can’t deter them from attempting to reach such “business objectives”.

In one e-mail I received, I learned I am an ICGer. I used to be called IGer (Ion Global geek) but that’s in the past. Now someone would like me to adopt the name ICGer.

I Consulting Group’s Spam E-mail

I haven’t heard what is I Consulting Group’s business prior to receiving the “ICGers September Newsletter“. And just like my previous post about an SEO company trying to win business by sending everyone e-mail with egregious guarantees, this one qualifies as spam e-mail. It sends e-mail to an unintended audience under the false pretension that these are their opt-in subscribers.

Citybus Hong Kong: Another Harmful Website

The Simpsons mania is in the air. After three years of wait since I confirmed the existence of the movie, I am just counting hours! The Simpsons has been my adopted cartoon family. And speaking of cartoon, it’s one of a kind. That’s because it appears to blend well with the real world. Created in a fictional town of Springfield, it created a survey among different Springfield locations for the right to be the official venue of the movie premier.

Not only that, selected 7-Eleven shops in America were converted to Kwik-E-Mart imitations, referring to the convenience store in the series managed by an Indian named Apu Nahasapeemapetilon.

Black + Google = www.blackle.com

Black + Google = www.blackle.com

Black is beautiful. But does it mean it’s also energy-saving when it comes to usage of white text on black background search interface of Google? Don’t worry it displays the same amount of search results. However, it does not deliver the same amount of user experience for people who are used to black text over white background after the WordStar years.

Introducing Blackle or Black Google, a custom Google Search interface. Yes, it’s been proven to consume less energy, and as our energy sources are dwindling, we’re all encouraged to save whatever we can.

To me it looks like an underground search engine flavored with consumer activism. Duh.
