Baidu Q4 earnings up 12.7% from strong Q3 revenue

Baidu.com, Inc. (Baidu), a leading Chinese language internet search provider, expects its Q4 revenue to be between RMB 560 million and RMB 575 million, based on its strong performance in the previous quarter.

The company reported revenue of RMB 497 million in the third quarter last year, up a startling 107% over the corresponding period of a year earlier. In addition, the marketing revenue amounted to RMB 496 million, representing 24% increase sequentially, and 109% growth year-on-year.

The summary is based on the third quarter fiscal 2007 earnings call, conducted by Baidu on Oct. 25, 2007.

Several factors contributed to the spectacular growth during the quarter, such as the Olympic Channel, the Game Channel and Baidu TV that the company has newly established during the period.

In 2008, the company plans to launch its first e-commerce consumer-to-consumer initiative.
