Barack Obama gets a special press release mention at one of Baidu’s most important page, its homepage. I don’t see Baidu making changes to its logo as much as Yahoo! or Google does. So this change could be an indication of endorsement from the Chinese search engine giant. Apart from the Baidu homepage, a tribute page in Chinese highlights this democratic presidential hopeful, complete with bio, news and blog articles. Obama becomes the sixth recipient of this tribute and the first non-Chinese to do so. Previous recipients include Hong Kong entertainers and China snow storm survivors.
Given the oft-tense relationship between US and China which includes censorship of web contents, Taiwan missile issue, disallowing port call of Kitty Hawk in Hong Kong and massive recall of Chinese-made toys, this looks like a presidential endorsement to me.
Just wondering what the net he is throwing in the image means.
