Google Analytics: Social Media Reports Now Under Traffic Source

Google Analytics has consolidated its reports namely  Social Engagement, Social Actions, & Social Pages, previously listed under Audience into a section called Social — under Traffic Sources. It joins Source and Search Engine Optimization as a third subcategory.

I think social media can also be a separate subcategory, but only if Google can easily and accurately determine a source as a social medium such as StumbleUpon, Pinterest or Digg, and redefining what traffic referrals actually mean.

This update comes as a timely reorganization of reports just as Google Analytics recently improved the way it reports social media as traffic source to our website, how each social media channel compares with others in conversions, and how visitors engage with our website after being referred by these channels.
