Google Custom Search just released a new feature which enables results to appear as an overlay of the page instead of rendering a separate search results page. This is with the help of AJAX.
For those who are not familiar about Google Custom Search, it is a Google feature that allows webmasters to provide site search facility to web site visitors. It is performed by placing a customized HTML code that contains the search form. Google will scan the pages within the site and results from queries using Google Custom Search will exclusively come from that site.
Custom Search blog provided a sample search results page for everyone to see and evaluate. I think this is a great idea because it allows visitors to retain the view of the existing page while reviewing the results within the overlay page.
I am mulling towards changing my current search form with this new feature from Google Custom Search.
